Minima of shear viscosity and thermal conductivity coefficients of classical fluids

چکیده
The shear viscosity and thermal conductivity coefficients of various liquids exhibit minima along certain trajectories on the phase diagram. These arise due to crossover between momentum energy transport mechanisms in gas-like liquid-like regimes. We demonstrate that magnitudes are quasi-universal appropriately reduced units, especially for coefficients. results presented support this observation concern properties three simple model systems with different pairwise interaction potentials (hard spheres, Lennard–Jones, Coulomb) as well seven important real atomic molecular (Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, CH4, CO2, N2). represent useful reference points fluid properties.

A molecular simulation study of shear and bulk viscosity and thermal conductivity of simple real fluids
Shear and bulk viscosity and thermal conductivity for argon, krypton, xenon, and methane and the binary mixtures argon+krypton and argon+methane were determined by equilibrium molecular dynamics with the Green-Kubo method. The fluids were modeled by spherical Lennard-Jones pair-potentials with parameters adjusted to experimental vapor liquid-equilibria data alone. Good agreement between the pre...
متن کاملBehavior of Viscosity and Thermal Conductivity
This paper reviews the experimental information on the behavior of the viscosity and thermal conductivity of fluids near the critical point. Section 2 presents some general remarks on experimental complications associated with the measurement of these properties in the critical region. Experimental work on the viscosity of one component fluids near the liquid-vapor critical point is rev...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation on the Thermal Conductivity and Viscosity of ZnO Nanofluid and Development of New Correlations
In this paper, the measurement of the viscosity of ZnO in ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, mixture of ethylene glycol and water (60:40 by weight), and a mixture of propylene glycol and water (60:40 by weight) and the thermal conductivity in ethylene glycol and propylene glycol as base fluids in the range of temperature from 25 ºC to 60 ºC are investigated. The results indicate that as the tem...

This paper was aimed to address the modeling of effective thermal conductivity and viscosity of carbon structured nanofluids. Response surface methodology, D_optimal design (DOD) was employed to assess the main and interactive effects of temperature (T) and weight percentage (wt %) to model effective thermal conductivity and viscosity of multi wall and single wall carbon nanotube, CVD and RGO G...
متن کاملThermal conductivity and viscosity of self-assembled alcohol/polyalphaolefin nanoemulsion fluids
Very large thermal conductivity enhancement had been reported earlier in colloidal suspensions of solid nanoparticles (i.e., nanofluids) and more recently also in oil-in-water emulsions. In this study, nanoemulsions of alcohol and polyalphaolefin (PAO) are spontaneously generated by self-assembly, and their thermal conductivity and viscosity are investigated experimentally. Alcohol and PAO have...
